The Kentucky Captive Association was formed to monitor legislation that would
affect captive owners and to promote the growth of Kentucky domiciled captives.
We provide access to other captive owners and experienced practitioners
who can help guide you in establishing a Kentucky Captive solution.
Captive insurance arrangements can be designed in several different ways.
Single Parent Captives
An insurance company formed to provide insurance coverage to its single owner
or fellow subsidiaries. Often referred to as a 'pure captive'.
Consortium Captives
An insurance company formed to provide insurance to its group or
association of owners. Associations often cite captives as a valuable
benefit of membership.
Sponsored Captives
Certain companies 'rent' their surplus to entities wishing to establish a
self-insurance program but not their own captive. It is not created by
its insured's.
Risk Retention Groups
A liability insurance company owned by its members. Risk
retention groups must be domiciled in a state. Only is licensed by its
state of domicile. A RRG can insure members in all states.
